The library uses an essential preference record to remember privacy choices. Optional analytics and advertising categories start off, and accepting them currently enables no third-party tracking because none is installed.

The preference record

The browser key and first-party cookie named dsg-consent-v1 contain essential, analytics, and advertising choices plus a timestamp. They do not contain your name, email, or message. The saved choice is valid for 180 days and renewed when you save again. The cookie expires automatically; local storage has no native expiration and is cleaned when an expired record is next read.

Equal choices

Accept all, Reject all, and Manage preferences have equal visual weight in the banner. Rejection leaves the reading library available. Essential preference storage remains on because it remembers the choice itself. Analytics and Advertising can be considered separately in the panel, but they describe permissions for possible future functionality rather than a claim that such services currently run.

Browser signals and limited scripting

A Global Privacy Control signal turns both optional categories off even when an older local choice allowed them. Without JavaScript, the banner's accept and reject forms can save an essential cookie through the server; a Sec-GPC signal still takes priority there. The preferences panel uses scripting. If storage is blocked, a scripted choice can apply for the current visit without being remembered after navigation.

Changing a decision

Use Cookie preferences in the footer to reopen the panel, or use the opt-out control on the Do Not Sell or Share page. Changing optional permissions is not a request to erase correspondence already sent by email. For that separate request, use the Contact form or write to info@driversoftguidegmail.com. New tracking technology would require an updated disclosure and consent-controlled loading before use.

Cookies and local storage explained

A cookie is a small browser record sent with matching requests. Local storage is a record kept by a browser for a particular site and is not automatically sent with every request. This application uses both to remember the same category choices. Ordinary browser caching and history are separate browser features, not additional advertising identifiers installed by this site.

Stored items

These are the persistent browser records deliberately written by the application. There are no installed analytics or advertising tags and no additional application tracking keys.

Stored items
Name and locationPurposeCategoryDuration
dsg-consent-v1 — cookieCategory choices and saved timestamp; no contact messageEssential180 days from saving; can be cleared sooner
dsg-consent-v1 — localStorageMirror of the same privacy choiceEssentialValid for 180 days; expired record removed when next read. May remain physically stored if you do not return.
In-memory choice — no persistent keyKeeps a choice when browser storage is blockedEssentialOnly while this page/session remains active; not reliably retained across navigation

Hosting statistics are separate

Replit's hosting infrastructure may process request information and traffic statistics to operate the site. Those server-side activities are different from optional analytics or advertising tags installed in a page. Our browser preference controls do not erase hosting logs or configure the hosting provider's statistics. See the provider's reference privacy information linked below.

Browser-level controls

You can inspect or clear cookies and local storage in your browser's site settings, block storage, or enable Global Privacy Control if supported. Clearing one copy does not necessarily clear the other: a valid remaining cookie or local-storage record can restore the saved choice. Clear both to remove both copies. A preference is not shared between browsers or devices.
